IMPORTANT:
While shrinking the tube, heat gun
should always work toward the open end of the tube.
Heat area of the tube that is covering the mastic to
melt the covered mastic for sealing visible gaps. Do
not directly heat mastic or heat tube in the direction
of the mastic to avoid melting and boiling the mastic.
The correct area for heating is as shown below.
The wrong area for heating is as shown below.
28.4. Work towards the open end. Shrink the tube
completely.

Immediately after shrinking, pinch the end of the tube
with flat nose pliers until the end stays sealed. This
normally takes 10 seconds.
IMPORTANT:
If the flat-nose pliers are not wide
enough to pinch the end of the tube completely,
pinch as needed until completely sealed.

30.
After the connection has cooled, fold over the
connection and fasten it with the third cable tie.

Complete the installation by securing the spliced
connection to pipe or object being heated by using
fiberglass tape (PSAT36A).
32.
For gutter and downspout applications: Secure
heating cable with down-spout hanger
(SLCBL-RDOWN1).
