T1-RBS (Robbed Bit Signaling) Provisioning
❐
Call either a long distance service provider or your
local service provider (phone company) to order
T1-RBS (also referred to as Channelized T1) service
and to obtain the required information for configuring
the Netaccess IRAS-24A card as described in
“Completing the T1-RBS Provisioning Worksheet”.
Telephone numbers for ordering T1-RBS service are
listed in Table A-1. The required information includes:
-
Trunk Type
-
Framing Type
-
Line Coding
Having correct and complete information about the
above items is essential to successful T1-RBS service
with your card and driver.
NOTE:
Obtaining T1-RBS service usually requires several
weeks.
❐
The T1 Interface Port on the IRAS-24A card (up to
four per server) must be connected to an external
Channel Service Unit (CSU), which you are
responsible for supplying.
❐
In-house wiring for your office is required to run the
T1 line(s) from the demarcation point (where the line
first enters your building) to the location of the
IRAS-24A card. Typically, phone companies run T1
lines to the demarcation point only.
You can ask your service provider to run the in-house
wiring or manage the installation yourself. General
wiring guidelines are provided in “In-House Wiring”,
located in this appendix.
