Service Provisioning
A-9
The CSU should remain powered on at all times to prevent
service disruptions. If the CSU loses power and stops
transmitting signals, the CO switch reports a Red Alarm on
the line. If this condition persists, the service provider may
“busy out” your line. In this situation, you will have to call
the service provider to restore your service.
NOTE:
The optional on-board CSU provided in the IRAS-24AC
model derives its power from the PCI bus. Therefore, to
prevent service disruptions with the local CO, you must
keep the server up and running at all times. If you need to
bring your server down for maintenance, the service
provider may disable the service temporarily. In this
instance, a call to the provider may be required to restore
service.
In-House Wiring
The local phone company provides the local loop wiring
from the CO to the demarcation point at your office.
Brooktrout supplies the cable to connect the IRAS-24A card
to the CSU. You are responsible for the in-house wiring
running from the demarcation point to the CSU, including
wall jacks.
There are three options:
❐
Have the service provider install the in-house wiring
as part of the service installation (the recommended
approach).
❐
Hire a private contractor.
❐
Wire the office yourself.
