Side Zipper
Use for side zippers on skirts or dresses.

Press .
* Be sure to select the straight stitch with the middle
(center) needle position.

Attach presser foot “J”, sew straight stitches
to the zipper opening, and then sew basting
stitches to the edge of the fabric.

Press the seam allowance open and align the
folded hem along the teeth of the zipper,
while maintaining 3 mm (approx.
1/8 inch) of sewing space.

Remove presser foot “J”, and then attach the
presser foot holder to the pin on the right side
of zipper foot “I”.

1/8 inch) margin.

Starting from the end of the zipper opening,
sew to a point about 50 mm (approx.
2 inches) from the edge of the fabric, then
stop the machine.

Pull down the zipper slider, then continue
sewing to the edge of the fabric.

CAUTION
• When using zipper foot “I”, make sure the straight
stitch, middle (center) needle position is selected.
Turn the handwheel to make sure the needle does
not strike the presser foot. If another stitch is
selected, the needle will strike the presser foot,
causing the needle to break and possibly causing
injury.
CAUTION
• Make sure the needle does not strike the zipper
during sewing. If the needle strikes the zipper, the
needle may break, leading to injury.
