Hyphenation
When you type the text in the WP mode, the word wrap function works so that
you don't need to return the cursor every time you reach the end o f line.
However this function may provide many spaces that exceed the hot zone if the
word is long to be wrapped around. On this typewriter, the useful hyphenation
function is available. When you activate this function, the typewriter searches
for the long word that causes many spaces over the hot zone and it helps you to
hyphenate it at the desired syllable. Before you begin the following steps, be
sure to select the WP mode and open any file.
Follow these steps:
[1]
Move the cursor to the position where you start the hyphenation
function.
[2]
Press the COD E + HYPHEN keys.
The typewriter starts searching for the long word to which the word
wrap function causes many spaces over the hot zone. When the word is
found, the typewriter stops searching. Only the word to be hyphenated
appears with the cursor indicating the right margin position.
If no such word is found, the hyphenation function is terminated and the
message is displayed, telling no words to be hyphenated arc found.
[3]
Press the <— (Cursor Left) key to move the cursor to the syllable where
you divide that word.
[4]
Press the ^_l (R eturn) key to insert a hyphen at that syllable.
The typewriter automatically reformats the following text and restarts
searching the next word to be hyphenated.
If you press the — » (Tab) key instead o f the
(Return) key, the search
word is ignored without hyphenation. The typewriter restarts searching
for the next one.
Pressing the CODE + HYPHEN keys or ESC key terminates the
hyphenation function halfway.
[5]
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the cursor reaches the end of the file.
If the typewriter does not find the word to be hyphenated, it automatically
terminates the hyphenation function.
A soft hyphen is added at the line end of the hyphenated word. It is
automatically cleared if the auto word wrap function works to remove the
hyphen.
