Follow these steps:

Open a new text file in the WP mode for practice.

Type the following text.
He went to the book store to select the cooking book
for her.

When finished with typing the text, move the cursor to any position of
the word "select" of which you want to find the synonym.

Press the C O D E + SCAN T keys to activate the scan thesaurus function.
The typewriter starts finding the synonyms o f the specified word.
When the typewriter finds the synonyms in the thesaurus, it
automatically enters the Thesaurus Mode.
When the typewriter does not find any synonyms in the thesaurus, the
display says that no synonyms are found. The typewriter returns to the
last working status.
If you press these keys with the cursor located between words, the
synonyms o f the two-word wording can be found.

Proceed to the section "Thesaurus Mode" to take some countermeasures.
Select the proper word "choose" among synonyms that the typewriter
finds in the thesaurus. Replace the typed word "select" with the synonym
"choose".
When finished with replacement, the typewriter returns to the last
working status.

Close the file.
Sometimes you want to suspend or quit the function before you complete it.
Pressing the ESC resumes the previous step and pressing the CO D E + SCAN T
keys cancels the function halfway.
