Operation
When finished with setting up the paper, turn on the typewriter and press the $
(Paper Insert)
key. The feeder automatically loads paper or envelope on
demand. When you press the ^
(Paper Insert)
key, the feeder ejects the
remaining paper and loads the next paper from the selected tray into the type
writer.
When the manual mode is selected with the COD E + SET UP keys, the feeder
does not feed paper and the typewriter works in the same way as it does
without the feeder. Pressing the £
(Paper Insert)
key just loads paper with no
paper eject.
Caution
*
Do not leave paper in the feeder for a long time.
*
Use straight paper.
*
If paper is warped, set it with the warp toward you.
*
Use the cut-sheet feeder with the paper release lever kept closed.
*
When you press the ^
(Paper Insert)
key to insert paper from the tray
you set in the SET UP mode or the feeder automatically try to load paper
in the WP mode but no paper is loaded into the typewriter, the error
message appears and says that the typewriter is out of paper. Set new
paper and press the CODE + 5 (PRINT) keys to execute printing.

When the typewriter is out of paper in the TYPE mode, the keyboard
locks up and the error message appears on the display. In this case, any key
other than the
jj; (Paper Insert), J (Index), J (Reverse Index), CODE
+ 1 (Micro Index), CODE + j (Micro Reverse Index), ^ (Cursor
Up),
and
(Cursor Down)
keys does not work. Set new paper. To cancel
the paper empty status without inserting paper, press the
CORRECTION
key.

The error message also appears if a paper jam occurs. Remove the jammed
paper from the typewriter.
