When I click
Scan
in
my scanning software,
an error message
appears:

This error message appears if your
machine is not recognized by your
computer.
1. Make sure your machine is connected correctly.
2. Confirm that the USB cable is working and that it
is not frayed or damaged in any way.
If the error still appears after verifying that the
USB cable is connected correctly, reinstall the
scanner driver from Brother installation DVD.

cannot be changed.
To produce the smallest scan file for a given
document, use the lowest resolution and Black
and White mode, and scan the smallest area
possible. Using the opposite settings (scanned
in the highest resolution, in the Color mode, and
scanning the largest area possible) produces
the largest-sized file.
