Optional objectives
5.1.1
Overview
For the HYPERION microscope, the following optional objectives are available:
4x objective (glass objective)
This objective is for visual sample viewing only.
It is
not qualified for IR spectroscopic measurements!
Reason: Glass absorbs mid-infrared light.
36x objective (Schwarzschild)
This objective can be used for both visual sample view-
ing and IR spectroscopic sample measurements.
Due to its degree of magnification, sample details can
be recognized better than with the objectives included
in the standard delivery scope.
20x ATR
1
objective
This objective can be used for both visual sample view-
ing and IR spectroscopic sample measurements in
attenuated total reflection (ATR) or in reflection.
☞
For detailed information about the ATR objective
and how to operate it, see section 4.12.
1) ATR objective - Attenuated Total Reflection Objective
15x GIR
2
objective
This objective can be used for both visual sample view-
ing and IR spectroscopic sample measurements in
grazing incidence reflection (GIR).
☞
For detailed information about the GIR objective
and how to operate it, see section 4.15.
2) GIR objective - Grazing Incidence Reflection Angle Objective
