Cleaning the Mower Housing
WARNING: The blade will rotate when the
engine runs. Before you clean the mower hous-
ing, stop the engine and disconnect the wire
from the spark plug.
Grass and other debris can keep the mower from working
correctly. After you mow, clean the mower housing as
follows.
1. Stop the engine.
2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug.
3. Clean dirt and debris from the top of the mower hous-
ing. Clean with soap and water. Wipe off excess water
before storage.
Washout Port
WARNING: Use appropriate eye protection.
WARNING: Keep people and pets out of
the area.
The washout port allows hands-free cleaning of the bottom
of the mower housing. To use the washout port:
1. Be sure the grass bag and side discharge deflector are
removed, and the mulching plug is installed.
2. Set the height of cut to the lowest position.
3. Move the mower to a level, paved surface.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Connect the male end of a standard garden hose to the
washout port connector (A, Figure 20, next page).
6. Turn on the water supply to the garden hose.
7. Start the engine and run until no more debris emerges
from under the mower housing.
WARNING: Stay behind the handle while the
engine is running.
8. Stop the engine.
9. Turn off the water supply to the garden hose.
10. Disconnect the garden hose from the washout port
connector.
11. Start the engine and run for 2-3 minutes, to allow the
bottom of the mower housing to dry.
