WARNING
Ensure that the oil grade used is correct and the oil levels are correct. If the
oil is used improperly or the oil level is wrong, the pump performance will
be affected and the pump may be damaged, which will compromise its
constructional safety.
The positions of the oil filling and the oil drain are shown in Figure 2 and the corresponding
positions on the pump body. Refer to Section 2.5 for the suitable amount of oil to prepare the
suitable container to discharge the contaminated pump oil. Dispose of the discharged waste oil
according to the national and local environmental protection laws and regulations. The new
pump oil must be the BAOSI vacuum pump oil BSO-46. Specific steps for oil change are as
followings:
1. Stop the pump, vent it to atmospheric pressure and let it cool down.
2. Unscrew the shaft seal oil reservoir screw plug and suck out the oil in the oil reservoir.
After the suction is completed, add the pump oil to the top of the observation window
reflector. After the oil is over, tighten the oil plug.
3. Unscrew the motor side cover filler plug and the oil drain plug (located directly below
the filling plug) to drain the oil into the suitable container. After the oil drain is
complete, tighten the oil drain plug. Then add the pump oil to the top of the oil window
reflector. See step3.4.1 for the oiling procedure. After the oiling is finished, tighten the
oil plug.
4. Unscrew the gear side screw plug and the oil drain plug, and drain the oil into the
suitable container. After the oil is drained, tighten the oil drain plug. Then add the pump
oil to the position between the upper and lower limit soft he oil level of the observation
window, and tighten the oil plug.
6. Storage and disposal
6.1 Storage
WARNING
Observe the storage temperature limits as shown in section 2.1. Seals and
lubricants will be permanently damaged at temperatures below -30°C.
The following steps should be taken to store the pump:
1. Stop the pump as described in section 4.3 and disconnect the pump from the power
supply and vacuum system.
2. Clean the pump according to section 5.5.
3. Install protective covers on the inlet and outlet flanges.
