1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

1.01

The  HWX  Integrated  Fan/Power  Supply  provides AC/DC  primary  power  conversion

and  fan  cooling  for  Optiworx  HWX  products  that  operate  on  -48  VDC.  It  is  specifically

designed  to  provide  power  to  a  single  HWX  Equipment  Shelf  (HX1281EC  or  HX2281EC).

The  fan/power  supply  is  mounted  in  the  rack  directly  above  the  HWX  Equipment  Shelf,

allowing its fans to draw air up and through the shelf.
There  are  three  HWX  Integrated  Fan/Power  Supply  models:

110  VAC,  single  -48  VDC  output (HW-PSFAN-1-110)

110 VAC,   dual -48 VDC output (HW-PSFAN-2-110)

220  VAC,  single  -48  VDC  output (HW-PSFAN-1-220)

The  intent  of  the  dual  power  supply  is  to  provide  a  backup  power  supply  for  the

equipment  shelf.  The  power  supply’s  -48  VDC  outputs  are  compatible  with  telco  standard

A  BATT/B  BATT  DC  inputs.  Each  Integrated  Fan/Power  Supply’s  DC  output  provides

-48 VDC at 300 watts.

Warning

The  Integrated  Fan/Power  Supply  dual  output  assembly  (HW-PSFAN-2-110)

contains  two  power  supplies.  This  assembly  is  designed  to  provide  two  power  supply

sources  for  one  HWX  Equipment  Shelf.  Do  not  attempt  to  connect  this  power  supply

assembly  to  more  than  one  equipment  shelf.

2. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

2.01

The HWX Integrated Fan/Power Supply assembly is a 19” rack or cabinet mountable unit,

which measures 17.20” wide by 1.75” high (1 RU) by 22.00” deep (see Figure 1-1). The single

supply  version  of  the  assembly  weighs  approximately  22  pounds,  and  the  dual  supply

approximately  25  pounds.  It  provides  -48 VDC  power  and  cooling  for  the  HWX  Universal

Equipment Shelf (HX1281EC or HX2281EC) and the associated plug-in modules that are housed

in that shelf.

2.02

Three  fans  are  located  across  the  top  of  the  Integrated  Fan/Power  Supply  assembly

such that when placed above an HWX Equipment Shelf it will draw air cooling air up through

the shelf and exhaust it from the top of the assembly.
