INTEGRATED FAN/POWER SUPPLY WIRING
Summary:
The Integrated Fan/Power Supply assembly HW-PSFAN-x-xxx provides AC/DC pri-
mary power conversion and fan cooling for Optiworx products that operate on -48 VDC. It is specifi-
cally used to provide power to a single HWX Equipment Shelf (HX1281EC or HX2281EC).
This proce-
dure provides instruction for connecting office ground to the assembly, and wiring of the -48 VDC
power to the HWX Equipment Shelf.
Warning:
To prevent electrical shock, never install electrical equipment in a wet
location or during a lightning storm.
Caution:
The dual supply version of the Integrated Fan/Power Supply (HW-PSFAN-2-110)
is designed to provide two (2) power supply sources for
one
(1) HWX equipment shelf.
DO NOT attempt to connect this power supply to more than one equipment shelf.
1. Obtain the following tools and equipment:
Flat-blade or Phillips screwdriver to match terminal block screws
Ground wire, 16 AWG (minimum), stranded conductor, length as required
DC power wire, 18 AWG (minimum), stranded conductor, length as required
Insulated fork/spade crimp terminals, to accommodate 18 AWG wire
(6 for a single output, 12 for redundant)
Approved crimp tool
Warning:
Steps 2 through 4 connect the Integrated Fan/Power Supply to office
ground. This connection must be made using methods and hardware that meet all
applicable local and national electrical codes.
2. Using only the length needed to reach the office ground connection point (wire length
to be as short and straight as possible), cut one length of 16 AWG wire. Strip the
insulation from the last 1/2 inch of wire.
3. Press the Integrated Fan/Power Supply spring-loaded ground post (see Figure 502-1) until
the outer and inner sleeves are aligned so that the holes for the wire are matched, then
insert one end of the stripped ground wire into the holes, and release the ground post.
4. Route the wire and connect its other end to the office ground conductor. Dress and
secure the ground wire so that it cannot come into contact with any other electrical
terminations.
