Micro-CS Installation Guide
UNIX Host on the LAN
When troubleshooting a UNIX host on the LAN, make sure
•
The host is booted and functioning properly.
•
The host can communicate with other network nodes using standard
UNIX networking features and utilities.
•
All Micro-CS software is installed properly on the host. (See the
CSMIM2 Installation Notes.)
•
The erpcd daemon or tftp server, which loads the operational image
to the Micro-CS, is running.
In SETUP mode, Micro-CS displays the boot progress report on the
console.
•
To place the Micro-CS into SETUP mode, press the SETUP switch
after a reset and wait for monitor prompt.
•
To place erpcd on the load server host into test mode, kill the erpcd
program (requires superuser privileges) and restart it using the -D
option:
# /etc/erpcd -D
When the Micro-CS boots in SETUP mode the console displays the load
server host’s Internet address and indicates whether it receives a response
to its Open File Request and to any of its Read File Requests.
The host’s progress report indicates receipt of any File Server Requests
and its responses to such requests. The host displays erpc_return 0 if it
successfully receives a request and is sending out an affirmative response.
If any Micro-CS related files are missing or cannot be installed, contact
technical support.
