Installing an FRX4000
The customer and sales representative decide on the necessary hardware and
software components at the time a FRX4000 is ordered. These components
(except cables) are then installed before the unit is shipped to the customer.
Steps to be taken at the customer site are described in this section.
1. Unpack and inspect the equipment. A shipment will generally include two
boxes, the contents of which are described below. If there is evidence of
physical damage, contact the transport company that delivered the
equipment. If parts are missing, contact your sales representative.
Box 1 contains:
•
"Read Me First" packet: includes software license agreement, updates
to this document, and other pertinent information.
•
FRX4000 (including serial expansion card, if ordered).
•
Power cable.
•
One V.35 DTE I/O cable.
•

Box 2 contains all other cables that were ordered with the FRX4000.
2. Record the serial number found on the bottom of the FRX4000. This will
be needed for any correspondence with Cabletron Systems concerning the
device.
3. If you are not rack mounting the unit, go to step 5. If you are mounting the
unit into a 19-inch rack, attach the mounting brackets as shown in Figure
4, using the 6-32x¼ screws included with the brackets.
Note that the design of the brackets allows you to attach them with the tabs
at either the front or the rear of the FRX4000.
