This completes installation of the ICP Switch. If the device has a LAN card
installed, go to “
Configuring TCP/IP
” on page 2-37.
INM Switch
If the INM being installed is the first one in a new network, it should contain a com-
plete database (described in Section II of the User Guide) for all FRX8000s that
will exist in the initial network. The INM database must have at least all records
for itself. (Records for other nodes can be created at any time before they are
brought on line in the network.)
If installing the first INM in a new network, go to "
Downloading the Database
."
A new INM in an existing network will automatically get the database records from
an operational INM when the new device is brought on line. To assure that the
database in the INM is concurrent with that of the operational network, a copy of
the database must be loaded into the new device. This can be done by either of two
methods:
●
Configure a trunk at the new INM, IPL the device, and download the
database from an operational INM.
●
Archive (make a copy of) the network database, carry it to the new device,
and restore it.
Either method can be chosen. An advantage to downloading the database it that
does not require physically transporting anything from one site to the other. An
advantage to archiving and restoring the database is that a copy of the database can
be created at some convenient time, then sent to the new site, where it will be ready
to load as the unit is being installed.
If installing a new INM into an existing network, go to either “Downloading the
Database” or “
Archiving and Restoring the Database
” (on page 2-34) depending
on your preference.
