5.6 REMOTE Mode
REMOTE is the Talkwire command which is used to gain access to the
remote SBU128, with which you have an active Talkwire link.
After dialling from the Operation menu, then select the Remote menu
from the Operation\Talkwire menu. You are then accessing the remote
unit.
All commands that you enter at one of these command line prompts, will
be actioned by the remote SBU128, just as if you were directly
connected to it's COMMAND port.
All configuration commands of the SBU128 are available to you.
Note: Take extreme care when using Talkwire to change the
configuration of a remote unit, it is possible to alter a
parameters
which will result in locking yourself out of the unit,
making further Talkwire connections impossible until the unit is
re-configured from a local terminal!
5.7 Using Talkwire During a Backup
Talkwire is used over ISDN when backing up data rates at 64bit/s or less.
When the SBU128 initiates a backup call, Talkwire can be enabled or
disabled, with the default of enabled. When Talkwire is enabled and a
backup is initiated, the originating SBU128 calls the remote SBU128
over the ISDN line. When receiving the call the remote unit detects a
Talkwire sequence on the line, it then replies by sending a Talkwire
sequence back to the originating SBU128.
The originating unit, receiving a correct Talkwire sequence, after the
connect timer expires sends a Connect command to the remote unit,
which is acknowledged by the remote unit turning Talkwire OFF, and
switching data on the User port to the ISDN line.
The originating SBU128 seeing Talkwire turned OFF, after the connect
timer connects its User port to the ISDN line, thus establishing a backup
link. With the backup link established, Talkwire is inhibited over the
ISDN, and the SBU128 attempts a Talkwire connection via the DLC.
With Configuration\Call Control\Talkwire menu set to Auto Connect on
both units, the remote SBU128 will wait for the user defined Connect
