6.3 Configuring the Polled Command Mode
Having configured the SBU128 to have a unique polling address, the
command mode of the unit must be altered from its default state
(normal) to reflect the new mode of operation.
This is done by setting the Configuration\Command Port\Console menu
to Polled.
6.4 Connecting to a Specific SBU128 Within a
Polled Environment
Having configured the CONSOLE parameter within your SBU128 to
POLL, access to the COMMAND port can only be gained by specifying
the polling address of the unit.
For example, from the command console, type:
1> POLL 00001[CR]
or, where leading zeros exist as above, just:
1> POLL 1[CR]
to connect you to the COMMAND port of the SBU128 whose polling
address is set as 00001. Only SBU12800001 will respond to the
command, which is reflected by the command line:
00001 1> _
To disconnect the console from this SBU128’s COMMAND port, type
any other poll number, or select the Logout top level menu.
Alternatively, you can switch to the COMMAND port of another polled
SBU128 by typing:
00001 1> POLL xxxxx[CR]
where
xxxxx
represents the polling address of the SBU128 or
other SmartSWITCH BACKUP product to which
you want to connect.
