SECTION IV
TROUBLESHOOTING
Computer Communication Problems
I - Symptoms:
"
I do not see any call data on my screen in my application software.
"
My application software says it is not communicating with the hardware.
"
I cannot see call data in terminal mode.
I - Assumptions:
"
Telephone lines are connected correctly
"
The unit is connected to a serial port
"
Power is connected to the unit.
I - Problems:
"
The software is not configured to the correct COMM port number on which the serial
port resides.
"
The serial port that the unit is connected to has a COMM port or Interrupt (IRQ) conflict.
I - Solutions:
Determine which communication (COMM) port number the serial port is configured to and
whether it has a COMM port number, or Interrupt (IRQ) number conflict with an internal
modem or other device. For more on COMM ports and IRQs see Appendix C, page 46.
To determine whether the serial port is configured and working properly use any modem
communications program such as “Hyperterminal” in Windows, and follow the Loopback test
procedure below.
