GEO_Rev1 - Operating Instructions
Page 13 / 44
Follow all safety standards.
The unit must be always earthed, also with a
nonmetallic delivery pipe.
Before making electrical connections, read the
manuals of the electric pump and electric panel
(where applicable), the instructions and any
wiring diagrams.
Make sure the frequency and mains voltage correspond
with the name plate data.
Install a
device for disconnection from the mains
(switch) with a contact separation of at least 3 mm in
all poles.
Single-phase pumps
, are supplied with a capacitor
connected to the terminals and (for 220-240 V - 50 Hz)
with an incorporated thermal protector.
The lifting station with a single-phase pump is not
supplied with a control panel (only for GQGM pumps
have a control panel). All lifting stations with one
three-phase pump and two pumps are supplied with
a control panel.
7. STARTUP AND OPERATION
7.1. Preliminary checks before start-up of the
pump
Do not start-up the device in case of damaged parts.
7.2. First starting
OFF
Before starting the station and the electric pump, check
that there are no residues or other materials in the
system and tank that can prevent correct operation.
In this phase, leave the check valve on the inlet piping
closed and fill the lifting station with clean water. Open
the check valve on the outlet piping, check the piping
is perfectly watertight and make sure the electric pump
works correctly. Also check that the electric pump is
primed.
Open the check valve on the inlet piping and make
sure the station works correctly.
The flow of liquid from the various users must
not prevent the float switches in the basin from
operating correctly.
Before installation, momentarily start the motor to
check through the suction opening that the rotation of
the impeller is as shown by the arrow on the pump.
Otherwise disconnect electrical power and reverse the
connections of two phases in the control box.
Operation with wrong direction of rotation will cause
vibration and loss of delivery capacity.
Check the electric pump manual.
Make sure that the cut-in levels of the float switches
are correct. If necessary adjust them according to
effective system requirements.
When there are 2 electric pumps, the float switches are
adjusted as scheme.

7.2.1. Abnormal operation
Never run the pump for more than five minutes
with a closed gate va
lve.
M001_REV04
1 Single-phase pump
Construction with float switch: the float switch
connected directly to the pump controls starting and
stopping.
Check that the float switch is free from any obstacle.
1 Three-phase pump
Operating with 1 float switch plus one float switch for
alarm
Float switch G1 starts and stops the pump.
Float switch GMAX, with a higher intervention level
than float switch G1, acts as a high-level alarm and
starts the pump if float switch G1 is faulty.
2 Pumps
Operating with 2 float switches plus one float switch
for alarm
Float switch G1, whith a lower starting level, starts the
pump.
Float switch G2, with a higher starting level, starts the
second pump.
Float switch GMAX placed in a higher intervention
level than float switch G2, acts as a high-level alarm
and starts both pumps if float switches G1 and G2 are
faulty.
7.3. Switch off of the pump
ON
The appliance must be switch off every time
there are faults. (see troubleshooting).
The product is designed for a continuous duty, the
switch off is performed by disconnecting the power
supply by means the expected disconnecting devices.
(see paragraph “6.7 Electrical connection”).
