6.1
Starting up the engine
•
Fill the carburettor by pressing the small pump (32) a number of times.
•
Turn the switch (10) to the START position.
•
Put the starter lever (34) in the CLOSED position.
•
Put the tool in a stable position on the ground. Keep it steady and slowly pull the starter lever (2) as far as possible.
Pull it with strength several times until the tool is started. Wait 5-10 seconds and then pull the accelerator lever (12) to
bring the starter lever (34) back to the OPEN position automatically.
WARNING!
Do not use the starter lever (34) to start the tool when the engine is already hot.
6.1.1
Adjusting the carburettor
Clean the air filter (30) and warm up the engine before adjusting the carburettor. The idle screw (32) is set so that there is
a good safety margin between idling and clutch engagement speed.
WARNING!
•
When the engine idles (2500÷2800 rpm), the extension pole (26) shall not move. Contact your nearest dealer or
authorized service point to adjust the carburetion.
•
Changes in altitude and weather conditions may affect carburetion.
•
If the engine power output notably drops, verify if the air filter (30) is clogged or damaged. Replace it, if ne-
cessary. Before reassembling it, remove any dirt inside the cover and around the filter.
6.2
Stopping the engine
Make the accelerator lever (12) idle and wait a few seconds to allow the engine to cool down. Turn the switch (10) to the
STOP position to stop the engine.
6.2.1
Breaking in the engine
During the first 20 hours do not run the tool at peak rpm for long periods.
6.3
Maintenance
6.3.1
Air filter
If the engine power output notably drops, verify if the air filter (30) is clogged or damaged. Replace it if necessary. Before
reassembling it, remove any dirt inside the cover and around the filter.
6.3.2
Fuel filter
6.3.3
Engine
Periodically clean the cylinder fins with a brush, as shown in picture (Fig. M), or by blowing compressed air. Excessive dirt
on the cylinder may cause overheating that would endanger the engine performance.
6.3.4
Spark plug
Periodically clean the spark plug (39) and check the distance of the electrodes (40), as shown in picture (Fig. V).
Use a Champion RCJ-7Y spark plug or other brands with the same heat rating.
WARNING!
All maintenance operations which are not specified in this manual are to be carried out by an authorized service
point. Use original spare parts to get a long-lasting tool top performance.
6.4
Storing the tool
•
Carefully follow the maintenance and safety indications in this manual.
•
Thoroughly clean the tool.
•
Drain the fuel out of the engine tank (14) and screw the tank plug (15) again.
•
Remove the spark plug (39) and pour a bit of oil into the cylinder through the hole (35). Turn the engine shaft a few ti-
mes with the starter lever (2) to distribute the oil and then re-assemble the spark plug (39).
•
Wrap the engine in a plastic pack-cloth.
•
Store the tool in a dry area, preferably not directly on the ground and away from heat sources
