Converting Vibrating Wire Frequency to Standard Units
Calibration reports provided with vibrating wire sensors contain gage factors that
allow conversion of frequency output (hertz) to standard units of displacement,
pressure, or another unit. To convert frequency to standard units, first convert
frequency to digits.
Digits = (Hz/1000)^2 • 1000
Use gage factors and the polynomial provided in the sensor calibration report to
calculate standard units from digits.
As an example, the figure

shows
a report for a displacement transducer. If the output of the sensor is 2400 Hz,
digits is calculated as follows:
Digits = (2400/1000)^2 • 1000
Digits = 5760
