ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT FAILS TO START (cont’d)
3. No fuel to the engine (spark plug dry when removed).
– Check fuel tank level; turn fuel valve to ON (also try on RES.). A failure of the
fuel pump or carburetor may have occurred.
– Seek service from an authorized Can-Am dealer, repair shop, or person of
your own choosing for maintenance, repair, or replacement. Please refer
to the US EPA EMISSIONS-RELATED WARRANTY contained herein for
information about warranty claims.
4. Spark plug/ignition (no spark).
– Check main fuse condition.
– Remove spark plug from engine and reconnect it to the spark plug cap.
– Ensure the ignition switch is set to ON and the emergency engine stop
switch is set to the RUN position.
– Start engine with spark plug grounded to the engine away from spark plug
hole. If no spark appears, replace spark plug.
– If trouble persists, seek service from an authorized Can-Am dealer, repair
shop, or person of your own choosing for maintenance, repair, or replace-
ment. Please refer to the US EPA EMISSIONS-RELATED WARRANTY
contained herein for information about warranty claims.
5. Engine compression.
– Crank engine, you should feel a pulsation due to the compression cycle
of the engine. If no pulsed resistance is felt, it suggests a major loss of
compression.
– Seek service from an authorized Can-Am dealer, repair shop, or person of
your own choosing for maintenance, repair, or replacement. Please refer
to the US EPA EMISSIONS-RELATED WARRANTY contained herein for
information about warranty claims.
ENGINE LACKS ACCELERATION OR POWER
1. Fouled or damaged spark plug.
– Check item ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT FAILS TO START.
2. Lack of fuel to engine.
– Check item ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT FAILS TO START.
3. Carburetor adjustments.
– Seek service from an authorized Can-Am dealer, repair shop, or person of
your own choosing for maintenance, repair, or replacement. Please refer

4. Engine is overheating.
– Check ENGINE OVERHEATS.
