HOW YOUR SPA FUNCTIONS
& SPA SAFETY

THE CANADIAN SPA COMPANY OWNERS MANUAL
Basic:
Water is drawn through the drains in the foot well and the skim filter on the side of the spa. Water is pumped through
a filter, over the heater, into the Ozone Reaction Chamber and returns to the jets. Water entering the spa has been filtered,
heated and mixed with air ready for use.
Note: A pressure switch on the heater ensures water flow over the heater before allowing the heater to energise.
Jets:
All regular jets can be flow adjusted by rotating the face of the jet. As the jet is turned clockwise the air at the jet is
gradually reduced, then the water. As the jet is rotated counter-clockwise, water flow is increased then the water and air
mix is increased.
Filter:
A weir is located on the skimmer. It is used to skim oils and floating pieces of debris from the surface of the spa.
(If applicable, the weir should be facing in to the skimmer opening.)
Air Controls:
Air Controls inject air into the jets via a venturi system. Rotating the left or right control from Min. to Max. activates the Air
Control.
NOTE: The system functions when your jets are at full power only.
NOTE: On spas with “Turbo” Option, one or more Air Controls may not do anything as they have been made
redundant.
FILLING YOUR SPA
Pre-Operational Check List:
1 Check that the filter(s) are installed.
2 Check that the skimmer basket is installed.
3 Check that the weir is installed.
4 Remove the spa access panel
5 Check that the electrical connections are correct and secure.
6 Check that the gate valves in the suction and discharge lines are in the open position. For plunger type valves
ensure that the handle is in the fully up position. For Ball valve type shut off valves ensure the handle is in line with
the water pipe.
7 Check that the spa drain valve is closed (Hose Bib).
8 Check all unions and fittings to ensure they are hand tight.
9 Place garden hose in filter intake and fill from cold water line. (Fill until water is approx. 6 inches or 15 cm. from
overflowing)
10 Watch for leaks while filling. Sometimes fittings loosen during transport and installation.
11 Shut water off and remove garden hose.
12 Turn on the power.
13 Once pump has started ensure water is flowing freely in the spa.
14 Keep cover on, latched, and locked at all times when the spa is not in use.
SPA SAFETY
1 Parents must exercise caution to prevent unauthorised access. Make sure your spa cover is securely fastened when spa
is not in use. There is NO GUARANTEE that the cover, actual lock or clip tie downs will prevent access to the spa.
2 Children must be closely supervised at all times when in or near the spa.
3 To prevent risk of injury resulting from body and/or hair entrapment, DO NOT remove suction fitting covers. The suction
fittings in the spa are sized to match specific water flow created by the pump.
4 DO NOT operate the spa if the suction fitting(s) are broken or missing. When replacing suction fittings or pump heads, be
sure the flow rates are compatible. Never exchange a suction fitting(s) with one rated less than the flow rate marked on
the original suction fitting(s).
5 NEVER allow any electrical appliance (E.g.: telephone, radio, light television, etc.) within 3 meters of the spa, due to risk
of electrical shock.
6 People with infectious diseases should NOT use a spa or hot tub.
