3. Open the terminal program HyperTerminal (in this example PuTTY was used), select
Session
from the

ree on the left and choose “Serial” as the
Connection type
.

Serial
from the tree and configure the
Options controlling the local serial lines
as outlined below:
Speed (baud):
9600
Data bits:
8
Stop bits:
1
Parity:
None
Flow Control:
None

5. Set your terminal program to the proper COM port (Check Device Manager)
6. Connect the USB-Serial adaptor to a Null-Modem cable. Plug the Serial Cable adaptor into Serial 2 on the
SGX 5150 and the DB-9 end to the Null-Modem cable.

In the terminal window, Hold down the “!” key (shift + 1)
8. Turn on the power to the SGX 5150
9.
Keep holding the “!” key for about 10 seconds until a “!” character appears in the terminal window
10.
Release the “!” key and type “xyz” within 5 seconds
11. The SGX 5150 prompt should appear in the window: (the prompt may appear multiple times)
