CANFIELD BROTHERS
NIMBLE 9
OWNER’S MANUAL
Congratulations on your purchase of
the Canfield Brothers Nimble 9 frame.
This frame represents all of the thought
and engineering that Canfield Brothers
are known for from their full suspension
bikes to their hard tail frames. In this
owner’s manual, we will include some
helpful setup tips as well as a brief over-
view of the bike.
OVERVIEW:
The Canfield Brothers Nimble 9 was de-
signed to be a fast rolling 29’’ wheeled
bike capable of handling almost any-
thing the rider could put it through. This
is a very versatile frame. The rider has
the choice of changing the character-
istics of the bike though the various parts
choices. We have customers building
their Nimble 9 as a single-speed, a rig-
id fork rig and fully-geared 120mm fork
bike. There are a lot of options and this
is a great platform to build from. Let’s
review some of the key features of this
frame.
FRAME FEATURES:
4130 Cromoly Steel construction: strong,
compliant and lasts a life time. The
frames receive an oil treatment on the
inside of the frame tubes at the factory.
This helps prevent rust forming on the
inside of the tubing on the bare metal
surfaces. If you live in an extremely wet
or humid area, we recommend seal-
ing the inside of your frame tubes with
a bicycle specific steel sealant. This is
standard procedure and should be
done to any steel frame in these envi-
ronments. The exterior of the frame is
powder coated. This means that the
exterior painted surfaces are baked in
to provide a stronger more durable fin-
ish. With that said, the finish is not bullet-
proof and should be treated with care.
HEAD TUBE:
The Nimble 9 has a 1 1/8’’ head tube
designed to work around a thread-less
headset. This gives you a lot of headset
options as well as fork choices. All fork
heights are measured in a A-C number.
This means axle to crown height. This
number will give you an idea on the fork
height. As you increase fork height, the
bb height increases and the head tube
angle decreases. You have the ability
to fine tune the ride characteristics dra-
matically by changing the fork height.
SEAT TUBE:
The Nimble 9 requires a 27.2 mm seat
post and a 29.8 Or 30mm seat tube
clamp.
