Train the Sensors (
Touchscreen
)
After running a wash, the next step is to train the sensors. The sensors must be trained whenever
operating the CAV 4.1 bath at a new temperature. Once trained, the calibration values for a particular
temperature are saved and recalled when the CAV 4.1 runs at that temperature again. Retraining for a
particular temperature is
only
necessary when the viscometer tube is changed or if sensor performance
changes over time.
1.
Insert an empty vial into position 1 of the carousel.
2.
Fill a vial with a test solution that has a viscosity approximately three times higher than the lower
viscosity limit of the Ubbelohde tube. Insert the vial into position 2.
3.
From the main menu, click the
Tube
button.
This opens the
Train Screen
window.

Run a Sample Test
(
Touchscreen)
This test verifies system calibration and provides a technician with basic training in operating the
CANNON CAV 4.1. These instructions refer to the CAV 4.1
Touchscreen
. Any level operator, Technician
or Manager, can run a sample test.
1.
Following your appropriate laboratory practices, prepare a 10mL sample of test oil in the provided
sample vials. Insert the sample vial into position 1 of the carousel.
2.
From the main menu screen, click on the circle representing position 1 in the carousel. This opens
the
Methods
screen.
