The default printer control mode is Canon BJ mode. If you change this to
Epson LQ mode, the default settings also change.
In Epson LQ mode, the following default settings are added or changed:
Function
Setting
First print line**
0.33 inch (8.5 mm)
Character set**
Epson Graphics
International character set**
USA
Buffer**
Input: 26 KB
Download: 0 KB
* You can change these settings using the operator panel. See Chapter 6,
Using the Operator Panel.
** You can change these settings using the FUNCTION settings described
in the rest of this chapter.
FUNCTION Settings
The FUNCTION settings control various printer functions, such as the page
length and character set you want to use. The printer functions defined by
the FUNCTION settings are determined by the printer control mode. The
printer has three control modes:
❏
BJ mode, which emulates the IBM Proprinter X24E
❏
Epson LQ mode, which emulates the Epson LQ printers
❏
Canon Extended mode, which is used in the Canon Windows driver
and with some MS-DOS applications
N
In Canon Extended mode, the printer overrides the FUNCTION settings.
Thus, when you are printing through the Windows environment, you can
ignore the information regarding FUNCTION and default settings.
