Halftone
Using this method, the printer produces shades of gray or of colors by
mapping dots to be printed. For color printing, different colored dots of ink
are placed closely together to create illusions of other colors.
Hexadecimal
Numbers represented to the base 16 (using digits 0 through 9 and A, B, C,
D, E, F). Frequently used in programming and referred to as hex.
Hexadecimal dump mode
Mode used to print out data or commands sent from the host computer to
the printer; information that is useful for debugging programs.
High quality (HQ) mode
One of the print quality modes available on this printer. Use this mode for
most printing needs. Print speed is 173 cps at 10 cpi.
Hue
A color in the color spectrum. Examples are red, green, and violet.

Ink jet printer
A nonimpact printer that ejects ink onto paper to form characters. This
printer is a special type of ink jet printer called a Bubble Jet printer.
Ink tank
The special type of ink cartridge housed by the BJ cartridge. The BC-10
Black BJ cartridge houses one black ink tank. The BC-11 Color BJ cartridge
houses one black ink tank and one color ink tank; the color ink tank
contains yellow, magenta, and cyan inks.
Input buffer
An area of the printer’s memory containing the files that have been sent to
the printer.
Intensity
The amount of color. More intense or more saturated colors are more pure.
Less intense or less saturated colors are less vivid.
Interface
The connection between two devices that makes it possible for them to
communicate with each other. This printer features a parallel interface,
which makes it compatible with IBM and similar personal computers.
