3. Testing the Scanner Operation
The following instructions show you how to test the scanner and experiment with
two software programs, an application program and a plug-in. You will use
CanoScan Toolbox CS and Canon Plug-in Module CS-U.
• Canon Plug-in Module CS-U is a plug-in module and cannot be
started by itself. It has to be operated from an application
program such as PhotoStudio 2000 or CanoScan Toolbox CS. For
details, please read What is a Plug-In ? (p. 49).

Place your item on the document glass as illustrated.
Open the document cover, orient the image face down and align its
top edge with the alignment mark at the front of the scanner.
Close the document cover, being careful not to dislodge the item.

Press the start button at the front of the scanner.
CanoScan Toolbox CS will start and display the toolbar.
