Setting Up
Chapter 2
Choosing a Location for the Copier/Fax
Before unpacking your copier/fax, read the guidelines in Important Safety Instructions
(
1
p. 1-6) to make sure you choose a location best suited for the copier/fax.
Dimensions
Make sure the location you choose provides enough space around the unit for
adequate ventilation, and to allow paper to flow freely into and out of the unit. Install the
unit approximately 4 inches (10 cm) away from walls and other equipment. For the
dimensions of the copier/fax unit, see p. A-2.
Unpacking the Copier/Fax
Follow the directions below to unpack the copier/fax unit properly, and to make sure
you have all its components and documentation.
n
When lifting the unit out of the box, or when you need to move it, lift it from the bottom and
hold it firmly and level.
Do You Have Everything?
As you unpack the copier/fax, save the carton and packing material in case you want to
move or ship the unit in the future.
Carefully remove all items from the box. You should have someone help by holding the
box while you lift the copier/fax unit and its protective packaging out of the box.
