2.
The Remanufacturing Process
1.
All safety related parts are replaced (power cords, breakers, fuses,
thermostats and protective switches).
2.
Pertinent engineering changes are implemented (updated parts,
firmware, etc.).
3.
Hard disk drives are replaced or erased and reimaged.
4.
Each module is inspected for damage during the remanufacturing
process. Subassemblies and parts are replaced as needed.
5.
All paper path areas are thoroughly cleaned, and evaluated during
the reassembly process.
6.
Almost all bearings are replaced in the Main Station, Finisher and
Sub Station. All bearings are replaced in the fixing units.
7.
The fixing units are completely disassembled, cleaned and tested.
The fixing unit tests are the same as for a newly manufactured
fixing unit: a belt alignment test, pressure spring force test and a
complete function check test (checks sensors, web advancement,
temperature, refresh and cleaning roller engagement and belt
timing).
8.
All of the reworked major sub-assemblies are inspected by the
operator performing the rework as well as an inspector.
9.
After the entire module has been reworked and re-assembled it is
inspected as an assembly.
