Exposure Lock (AE Lock)
You can lock the current exposure settings and use them even when you reframe the picture. This
function can only be used when the shooting mode is set to

or one of the Special Scene
modes, except for [

1 Open the exposure screen.

• An adjustment dial will appear on the screen.
• You can select [
] to display the zebra pattern (

46, step 2) and check for overexposed
areas.
2 Select [
] to lock the current exposure.
• The exposure compensation value ±0 and
will appear on the screen. In addition, [
] will
indicate that the exposure is locked.
• Select [
] again to return the camcorder to automatic exposure.
3 Drag your finger along the dial to further compensate the exposure.
• You can select a compensation level from –3 to +3 in 1/4 increments.
• Depending on the brightness of the image and the exposure locked, some values may not be
available and the available exposure compensation range may differ.
4 Select [

• The exposure compensation value and
will appear at the left of the screen.
Exposure Compensation
You can compensate the exposure that was set using automatic aperture, in order to darken or lighten
the image.

NOTES
• Setting the exposure compensation is not available during infrared mode.
• You can adjust the exposure compensation value using the CUSTOM dial (
A
84).
• The locked exposure will return to automatic exposure in the following cases:
- When the power switch, camera mode switch or INFRARED switch is operated.
- When the shooting mode is changed.
- When the video configuration is changed.
