NOTE:
The total number of simultaneous CLI management sessions by all users can
not exceed three, comprising a maximum of one RS-232 session and two Telnet sessions.
You will remain logged into the Access Navigator until you terminate the session by using
the
exit
command. An RS-232 session will remain active until terminated. Unplugging the
RS-232 management cable will not terminate the session; it will still be active when the
cable is plugged in again. If you do not terminate a Telnet session before disconnecting
from the Telnet server, the session will remain active for 2 hours. No other users will be
able to log on if all Telnet sessions are active. Resetting the Access Navigator will
terminate all sessions, but will also disrupt service. To prevent this from happening, you
can use the
autoexit
command to automatically end the session after a specified period
of inactivity.
Startup Message
The CLI management session begins with a startup message similar to the following, which identifies
the Carrier Access product and the current time and date.
Carrier Access Corporation Access Navigator
08:30:45 11/30/1998
Login with No User Name Required
If no users are defined, the CLI will not require a user name to log into the Access Navigator. This was
done to simplify hardware installation and initial system setup. A start-up message similar to the
following will appear, showing the command prompt. Command prompts always end with the symbol
“>”.
The default command prompt is
Access Navigator>
. The command prompt indicates that the
system is waiting for the operator to enter a command.
