12V DC / 230V AC POWER INVERTER

Technology
The conversion of the 12V DC voltage into 230V ~AC voltage takes place in two parts.
Stage 1: The device increases the incoming DC to 300V.
Stage 2: This voltage is then converted into 230V 50Hz ~AC.
This process use a kind of transistor composed of highly-integrated chips called MOSFET (Metal-
Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor).
Output voltage, waveform
The output voltage in this device is reproduced as a modified sine wave. This has a stepped form
which has almost exactly the same characteristics as the pure sine wave. This modified sine wave
is recognized by most modern 230V external appliances.
This includes power supplies found in electronic components, transformers and/or small motors.
The modified sine wave generated by this power inverter has a RMS (root mean square) voltage
230V.
Most digital and analogue Voltmeters cannot detect RMS and produce a reading which is 20 to
30 Volts lower than the actual output of this power inverter. To get an accurate result please use a
measuring device with RMS-capability.
Warning
Some external appliances, especially radios and/or other audio and chargeable devices
can damage the power inverter and/or the connected external appliance.
Check to see whether the external appliance connected to the power inverter “hums”, overheats
or heats excessively up in the first few minutes.
If this is the case, disconnect the external appliances and all cables immediately. In this case the
external appliance are incompatible and cannot be operated with each other.
If anything should be unclear, consult the dealer of the external appliance.

The above section does not apply to external appliance that are charged using a separate
external unit. This problem does not arise in modern and/or high-level external appliances as
these are able to detect and process modified sine waves.
