Assigning “40: Hi-Hat Open/Closed” to both a pad
and pedal makes it possible for this sound to be
controlled by the foot pedals as described below.
• Striking the pad with the foot pedal depressed

produces a closed hi-hat sound. (Program
Change=0, Note No.=46)

• Striking the pad with the foot pedal not pressed

produces an open hi-hat sound. (Program
Change=0, Note No.=42)

• Pressing the foot pedal without striking the pad

produces a hi-hat pedal sound. (Program
