6   Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the
device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device
incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.

6.1  Safety information

Attention

Please observe the following safety notices, before you commence with cleaning the device:

► The device must be cleaned and food residues must be removed at regular intervals. If the

device is not maintained in a clean condition, this will have a detrimental effect on the
service life of the device and can also result in a dangerous condition in the device as well
as in the growth of fungus and bacteria. Unplug the device before cleaning.

► The device is hot after it is used. There is a danger of burns! Wait until the device has

cooled down.

► Clean the device after use as soon as it has cooled down. Waiting longer periods of time

unnecessarily complicates cleaning and can make it impossible in extreme cases. Excessive
accumulations of dirt can even damage the device under certain circumstances. Remaining
food leftovers can catch fire during next heating.

► If dampness penetrates into the device, this can damage the electronic components. Please

ensure that no liquid can enter the interior of the device through the ventilation slots.

► Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
► Do not scrape off stubborn dirt with hard items.
► Never immerse the device or its plug into water. Liquid is not allowed to come in contact with

parts of the device.

6.2  Cleaning

UNPLUG THE DEVICE BEFORE CLEANING.

To remove bread crumbs, press on the crumb tray, so that it pushes out of its holder on

the bottom of the device. Pull it out completely and empty the tray.

Clean the crumb tray in wam soapy water and rinse it with clean water, dry it thoroughly

with a soft cloth.

Make sure that the elevated side of the crumb tray is facing upwards before you push it

back into the holder.

The device can be cleand with a slightly moistened cloth. Then dry it with soft cloth before

using it again.

Remove of crumbs

If crumbs are jammed in the device, move the lever for lift function carefully upwards to loosen
the jammed crumbs.
Turn the device upside down and shake it a bit so that you can remove jammed crumbs.
