risk of the formation of corrosive, fl ammable or explosive mixes. Install a smoke detector
for fi re prevention, connected to a non-stop surveillance service.
Make sure that in this room the temperature is a minimum of +5 °C and a maximum
of +35 °C. Electric supply must be suffi cient for the loads specifi ed on machine
plates and three n ground must be in place. Grounding is an indis-
pensable condition also for single-phase supply. Supply lines, electric units and
machines must be protected from direct and indirect electric contacts, overloads
and overcurrents, in compliance with C.E.I. 64-8 (IEC correspondents available on
request) regulations for fi rst class equipment or, in compliance with C.E.I. 64-4
(electrical plants in medical rooms)
. It is advisable to protect the supply network from
extra-currents. Protect electric panels and machines from accidental sprinkles, provide
for the collection of liquids on the ground with drainage connected to the sewage system.
Outside the room, install a fi re extinguisher of appropriate size and periodically check its
effi ciency. Allow access to personnel only, make sure that all the personnel wear appropri-
ate protections from sprinkles and accidental contacts with infected parts; ensure that no
repair or inspection is carried out on machines in operation or ones connected to the mains.
Machine boxes are not only a means to reduce sound vibrations, but it is also a protection
from accidental contacts and (infected) sprinkles from machines under pressure.
Employ boxes produced by the compressor manufacturer only. The manufacturer
cannot be liable, even within the warranty period, for units fi tted with inappropri-
ate boxes.
The machine installation mush be carried out by an expert operator, duly trained and
supplied with original spare parts. The operator assembling the equipment must refer to
the machine manual to carry out the machine fi nal test and to instruct users (surgery
staff) on use and routine maintenance.
Technical maintenance must be carried out by engineers duly trained and supplied with
original spare parts.
Arrange for a periodical inspection of equipment and systems. This inspection is
not only a means to prevent the surgery from forced stops and to check its oper-
ating conditions, but it is also a way of preventing accidents and fi res (According
to Italian law 626).
Starting
• Danger of electric shocks: also 230 V
can be lethal.
• High temperature.
• General danger sign.
• Compulsory direction of fl ow or rotation.
• Unpack the compressor following the instructions shown on the package.
• Dispose of the package in compliance with regulations.
• Verify that the appliance has not been damaged during transport.
• Do not connect damaged appliances to the mains.
•
Do not use extension leads, multiple plugs or sockets.
•
Ascertain that the feeding line is adequate to feed the compressor.
• Ascertain that the compressor (or Blok-Jet) is installed in a clean spot, far from
heat sources and from depots of contaminating substances
, and that it aspirates
clean air, free from dust, gases, and humidity.
Before starting the compressor, ascertain that piping is clean; heavy debris could damage
the appliances.
