Quick Start Guide
Messenger SMB CAN
1. Basic Installation
Every SMB kit comes standard with an SMB box, cellular antenna
with cable and a connectivity kit.
1. Connect the antenna cable to the SMB and the antenna (5dbi
standard) via the omnidirectional connector ends.
2. Position the antenna as high and unobstructed as possible.
3. Open SMB box. Connect the +/- spade connectors to the
battery terminal.
4. Solar panel screen will power up and status lights will blink on
the Messenger BLE. If not, press the power/enter button on the
solar controller.
2. 21-Pin Harness Connectivity Kit
Dropout harness is best installed directly between the rear of
the control panel and the existing 21-pin harness.
1. After dropout harness is installed, remove the 6-pin
terminated cap from the harness and retain.
2. Connect 6-pin cable to both the corresponding connector
and harness, as well as the M12 connectors on the SMB
labeled solar/DC and CAN respectively
3. Route cables safely and secure appropriately.
Note: Take care when wiring to power to prevent discharge.
3. 3-Pin J13939 Connectivity Kit
1. Connect the battery cable to the +/- terminals of the host unit
battery via the ring terminals.
2. Attach the M12 connector of the battery cable to the SMB port
labeled solar/DC
3. Locate the 3-pin Deutsch connector on the wiring harness
(male body, female pins, female triangle post).
4. The supplied Y-cable provides one connector for installation
into the engine harness and the other for retention cap.
5. The other end of the cable has an M12 connector for the CAN
port on the SMB.
6. Route cables safely and secure appropriately.
Note: Take care when wiring to power to prevent discharge.
