Configuring Teaming in
Windows Server
This chapter covers the following for teaming configuration:
“Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance” on page 261
QLASP Overview
QLASP is the Cavium teaming software for the Windows family of operating
systems. QLASP settings are configured by QCC GUI. QLASP provides
heterogeneous support for adapter teaming to include Cavium 8400/3400 Series
Adapters, and Cavium-shipping Intel NIC adapters and LOMs.
QLASP supports four types of teams for Layer 2 teaming:
Smart Load Balancing (SLB) and Failover with Auto-Fallback Enabled
Link Aggregation (802.3ad)
Generic Trunking (FEC/GEC)/802.3ad-Draft Static
SLB (with Auto-Fallback Disable)
For more information on network adapter teaming concepts, see
NOTE
This chapter describes teaming for adapters in Windows Server systems.
For more information on a similar technology on Linux operating systems
(called “Channel Bonding”), refer to your operating system documentation.
NOTE
Windows Server 2012 and later provide built-in teaming support, called NIC
Teaming or load balancing and failover (LBFO). Cavium does not
recommend enabling teams through NIC Teaming and QLASP at the same
time on the same adapters. The QLASP NIC teaming driver is not supported
on Windows Server 2016.
