VI. What’s new in KeyDuplicator II 2.x.x?
KeyDuplicator is since a long time based on a special technology in order to manage more
than 26 devices (from A: to Z:) under Windows. Don't be surprised not to see any plugged
devices (USB sticks, FlashRam card readers, ...) in the Windows WorkStation, after
KeyDuplicator has been launched. Only hard disks (C:, D: and following if any) and some
devices such as floppy disk readers and CD/DVD readers/writers will be visible. All
peripherals listed in the main window of KeyDuplicator disappear from WorkStation !
Nevertheless, they all stay accessible through folders located in the «
KeyDup_Volumes
»
folder. This folder is created during the first launch of KeyDuplicator, in the first NTFS hard
disk that it will find. As a result, you must have at least one NTFS formatted partition in your
PC, condition checked by the software at its first launch
time. In addition, devices that
KeyDuplicator has mounted as folders, will remain «
virtual volumes
» even after quitting
the
software, unless you have clicked the «
Mount real volumes
» button of the dialog
displayed when quitting the software, in order to make them become real volumes.
However,
KeyDuplicator32 release 1.9.6 has been recently replaced by KeyDuplicator II
release 2.x.x. This was a major recasting of this application, issuing the following changes:
- Graphic User Interface (GUI) displaying on screen the used DupliKey configuration, with
location of plugged keys. The physical keys location will be drastically easier.
The new graphic user interface (here, 20 ports)
- Event-driven detection for key plug or unplug, with appropriate update of the GUI. This has
led to the cancellation of the old USB bus scan every X seconds.
- Quick test of data transfer rate,
- Progress bars for low-level format and duplication, with percentage, number of copied files,
number of files to be copied and name of the currently copied file,
