2. Fasten with the 3 locknuts. 2 are threaded to the brake cam as
jam nuts,
and 1 is
threaded on the rear bolt as the
adjustment lock.
3. Reattach the emergency cable linkage to the brake cam and fasten with the clevis pin
and cotter pin.

It is always recommended to use new cotter pins whenever possible. Metal fatigue from
continuous bending can cause them to become ineffective with possible breaking and danger
of the cable becoming disconnected.
Adjusting the Parking Brake Caliper
Be sure that the linkage is connected to the emergency caliper and that the emergency
lever in the drivers compartment is completely off.
1. Tighten down all 3 locknuts until the caliper pads are snug to the brake disc with no
movement. (A second nut is added at the brake cam as a jam nut).
2. Back off the rear adjustment nut until you can turn the bolt freely by hand.
3. Next, back off the jam nut, then the inner nut on the
cam until there is movement in the
calipers.

As the lock nut is loosened, measure the clearance between the
brake disc and pad using a .010” feeler gauge. .010” is the correct clearance between
the left brake pad and the brake disc when the right pad is pressed against the disc.

Always take care and be aware of the steel brake fluid line that has remained attached
to the caliper. Do not twist or maneuver the caliper at extreme or unusual angles when
reattaching it to the transmission, or irreversible damage to it may occur.
