19.3 Pressure vessels

Pressure vessels sent for recycling/destruction must have been
depressurised beforehand and, if possible, opened.

Examples of existing pressure vessels are gas struts and accumulators used
in hydraulic systems.

19.3.1 Gas struts

WARNING!

Gas struts have extremely high internal pressure. To prevent injury, always
follow the instructions of the manufacturer.

Wear safety goggles when disassembling springs.

To allow the gas to escape, only open and disassemble gas struts as
recommended by the manufacturer. An example of how to perform this is
given for "Stabilus Lift-O-Mat/Inter-stop":

Drill or cut a hole in the cylinders, approximately 20 mm from the bottom.

Drill or cut a hole in the recess at the piston rod end.
