Chapter VII Performance feature test
102
Instrument / equipment:
Signal generator(recommended model: Agilent E4438C)
Power amplifier(recommended model: S41-20)
Power meter(recommended model: 2432, 2434, etc.)
Power sensor(recommended model: 23211, 71712, N9304, etc.)
Attenuator group: two 50W/20dB attenuators
N/BNCadapter: one
RF cable: two (80cm)
c) Test steps
1) First test the indicators of the T/R port. As shown in Fig. 10, turn on the instrument and warm it
up for 30min.
2) Perform zero adjustment and calibration of the power meter and power sensor.
3) Set the output of the signal source as follows.
Frequency: 999MHz;
Power: -25 dBm
RF: OFF
Connect the output of the signal source to the RF input end of the amplifier through the cable.
Then connect the amplifier output to the sensor of the power meter through the attenuator group.
4) Open the output of the signal source, adjust its output power, and observe the measured power.
The value measured with the power meter is as follows:
P measurement =43dBm to 40dB.
5) Open the spectrum analyzer window by pressing the [Measurement] hard key and setting the
instrument menu. Set it as follows.
Port: T/R
Center: 999MHz
Reference: -50dBm
sweep width: 1MHz
resolution bandwidth: 10kHz
Other parameters: auto.
6) Close the output of the signal source, and directly connect the output of the power amplifier to
