SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
■
Check that the switch is in the correct position, and the leads if applicable, before any measurement.
■
Check the correct alignment of the conductor in relation to the markings, and that the jaws close
correctly.
■
Do not use the clamp on cables or conductors at a voltage of more than 600 V.
■
Do not use the clamp for currents greater than 1000 A AC and 1400 A DC.
■
Do not make measurements of resistance, continuity test or diode test on a live circuit.
■
Always disconnect the clamp from any electric source before changing the battery.
■
Set the switch to the OFF position when you are not using the clamp.
■
The probe assemblies used for mains voltage measurements must be of rated measurement
category IV or better per CEI 61010-031 and have a rated voltage of at least 600V.
Definition of measurement categories:
-
Measurement category IV corresponds to measurements taken at the source of low-voltage
installations.
Example: power feeders, counters and protection devices.
-
Measurement category III corresponds to measurements on building installations.
Example: distribution panel, circuit-breakers, machines or fixed industrial devices.
-
Measurement category II corresponds to measurements taken on circuits directly connected to
low-voltage installations.
Example: power supply to domestic electrical appliances and portable tools.
