MAINTENANCE 

Only trained and competent people (authorised in writing) can service, maintain and 
repair this winch outside of basic inspection and lubrication. Line constituent changes 
are  permitted  providing  the  specification  of  rope  is  correct  and  sourced  from 
Checkmate. See technical data in chapter 6. The device should be regularly cleaned 
using warm or cool water and mild detergent if necessary, and lubricated to protect 
from corrosion and to ensure worm gear works freely and without corrosion.  

5. PRODUCT OVERVIEW AND WARANTEE 

The Checkmate WG-01 series hand winch is a simple worm gear design.  If the product 
is maintained correctly it will give many years of reliable operation and service.  

 

Ridged steel chassis polyester powder coated for corrosion resistance 

 

Cast steel drum painted  

 

Gear reduction protected by a cover plate, DO NOT REMOVE 

 

Automatic screw 

 

Ergonomic  cranking  handle  with  adjustable  positioning  and  thumb  locking 
screw 

The device is design to raise and lower material up to a WLL of 550lbs (250kg).  The 
device  is  permitted  for  man  riding  providing  the  correct  procedures  and  back  up 
device are in place. For further advice and guidance see the guide in chapter APPENDIX 
B of this manual, section 4.2.  

The device designed to be fitted to a range of portable anchors such as Tripods, Davits 
and Gantries. Although other applications and attachments are permitted alternative 
anchorages  should  be  inspected,  verified  and  signed  off  as  fit  for  purpose  and 
sufficiently strong enough prior to installation.  

The device is supplied with a one-year warranty from the date the device goes in to 
service, providing that this is not greater than 3 months from the date of manufacture.  
The warranty is subject to evidence of full service and inspection programmes being 
adhered to (including the date of first use), and limited to the device only, not the rope 
or hook assembly.

consideration. 

Any  device  that  needs  to  be  returned 

is  at  owner’s  expense, 

we  do  not  offer  a 

collection service. If the device is found to be faulty Checkmate will cover the cost of 
replacement, repair and delivery in the UK mainland only.
