• Case bolts (62) to 31 N.m (23 lbs. ft.).
32. A new speedometer tone wheel (1) to the main
shaft (23) using J 5590.
Important
The speedometer tone wheel is important to the prop
er operation of the anti-lock braking system, speedome
ter/odometer, cruise control and the ECM. Use care not
to damage it upon installation.

Install or Connect
1. RTV sealer (GM P/N 1052366) to the rear bearing
retainer (50) sealing surfaces.
2. Rear bearing retainer bolts (61) to the rear case (46).

Tighten
• Bolts (61) to 31 N.m (23 lbs. ft.).
3. Four-wheel drive indicator switch (60) to the front
case half (31).
Tighten
• Sensor to 41 N.m (30 lbs. ft.).
4. Speed sensor (59) and bolt to the rear bearing
retainer (50).

Tighten
• Bolt to 16 N.m (12 lbs. ft.).
5. Rear output yoke (79), rubber sealing washer (57),
flat washer (56), and the rear output yoke nut (75)
to the rear output shaft (figure 28).
• Nut (75) to 170 N.m (125 lbs. ft.).
6. Front output flange (58), rubber sealing washer
(57), flat washer (56), and the front output flange
nut (76) to the front output shaft.
Tighten
