GENERAL DESCRIPTION
CAST SPOKE MOUNTING
C ast spoke w h eels have hub and w heel integral.
Dem ountable r im s are clam ped to w h eels by studs,
cla m p s, and nuts. R im driver blocks at each side
of valve stem hole prevent rim slippage and valve
ste m dam age. F igure 1 show s p ositioning of both
rim types to w heel with sp a c e r . Depicted a lso are
d iffe r e n c e s in tir e and rim c r o s s se c tio n s. Dual
re a r tir e spacing is the sum of the w heel offsets
p lu s r im sp a cer width.
BUDD DISC TYPE MOUNTING
W heels a re secu red to hubs by b olts and ball
se a t type nuts. Unique in the dual rear attachm ent
is the inner and outer threaded nut arrangem ent
p erm ittin g rem oval of outside w heel without in ter
ferin g with inner w heel.
WHEEL STUDS OR BOLTS

BUDD DISC STUDS
Stripped threads on the studs may be the r e
su lt of e x c e s s iv e torquing of the studs, or it may
be a resu lt of dam age during w heel in stallation ,
when placing the w heel over the studs.
Where a damaged thread is d isco v ered , the
stud should be rep laced .
Broken studs are a d irect resu lt of operating
with lo o se cap nuts or im properly sea ted w h eels.
When a broken stud is found, a ll the studs
should be rep laced . T his is b eca u se the other studs
in the a ssem b ly have been subjected to undue
strain in carryin g a ll the load and may have b e
com e e x c e s s iv e ly fatigued.
