Warning
Consult your dealer before replacing
wheels. Never use wheels that are not
designed for the vehicle. Doing so would
impede safe vehicle operation.
The use of wheels and/or tires with higher
load carrying limits than originally equipped
on your vehicle does not in itself increase
the GAWR or the GVWR of the vehicle.
Replacement wheels can be obtained from
the authorized dealer or tire dealer.
Aluminum Wheels
1. Use only genuine aluminum wheels from
the authorized dealer or tire dealer.
2. After driving on a road where road
chemicals are applied or on a coastal
road, thoroughly wash the wheels with
water and then apply wax to prevent
corrosion.
3. Aluminum wheels get scratched easily,
so do not use a detergent containing
abrasive powder or a wire brush.
4. You must use a spare tire carrier
specially designed for aluminum wheels.
.
Aluminum wheels get damaged if you
tighten the wheel bolts and nuts to a
torque greater than the specified torque.
.
When installing the aluminum wheels
again, do not retighten the stud with its
threaded portion left as rusted.
Wheel Spacers
.
The wheel spacer is a nylon separator
plate, approximately 0.89 mm (0.035 in)
thick. It is placed between the drum and
wheel. If the rear inner wheels are steel,
the spacer is placed between the steel
and aluminum wheels. Wheel spacers are
to be replaced every 16 000 km
(10,000 mi) or tire rotation.
