Air Chicago (Standard/XW/XL/XXL)
Operating Guidelines

Counters
The CHI control panel can display counts of
flatwork pieces processed in a variety of manners,
from individual item counts to total pieces
processed by the machine.
For a detailed explanation of each counter
display and how to reset counters, refer to the
CHI PANEL OPERATION
bulletin,
Operation
section,
Counters
subsection.
Self-Diagnostics
The Air Chicago folding control system
continuously monitors itself for sensing and
folding errors. If an error is detected, a flashing
message appears in the CHI panel display and an
audible alert is heard.
PRIMARY FOLD FAILED
(TOO WIDE FOR CROSSFOLD)
The problem should be addressed immediately,
and if necessary, be brought to the attention
of maintenance or service personnel. The fold
system may still be operational depending upon
the nature of the error and where it occurred.
Programming, Adjustment, Testing
The folder’s operations are centrally operated
through the CHI (Chicago High Intelligence)
control panel. The CHI Panel makes it easy to
operate, program, adjust and test the folding
system.
The unit is pre-programmed at the factory
to accommodate standard flatwork sizes and to
automatically determine the number of primary
and/or crossfolds necessary to result in a neat,
stackable package. However, the unit can also
be reprogrammed to handled small and large
flatwork pieces as desired.
In addition, various specific settings in each
section of the Air Chicago fold system can be
electronically adjusted to deliver accurate and
consistent packages. These include delays and
timings in each folding station of the primary and
crossfold sections.
Finally, the fold control system allows service
personnel to test the various sections of the fold
system to ensure they are operating properly.
Each section is individually selected for testing.
For complete details, refer to the
CHI PANEL
OPERATION
bulletin.
